6th Grade EXPLORATORY CRAFT
AN INNOVATIVE AND QUALITY BEGINNING LEVEL THREE DIMENSIONAL ART CLASS AT THE MIDDLE SCHOOL LEVEL
EXPLORATORY CRAFT- introduces 6th grade students to three dimensional art through construction, sculpture, and mask making, and it is only offered to 6th grade students when there are less than 4 teachers in the 6th grade elective wheel. Students in this class will learn clay sculpting techniques, maskmaking techniques, collage techniques, printmaking techniques, and/or other construction techniques.
SUPPLIES NEEDED FOR EXPLORATORY ART
A lot of supplies are needed for this class, from found materials to the actual art supplies needed to construct each of the projects. So, the following is requested-
FOUND MATERIALS- Look around your home for left over crafting supplies (feathers, glitter, beads, etc), sewing supplies (trim, broken zippers, buttons, etc), household items (nails, screws, bolts, toothpicks, cotton balls), and other items, such as broken jewelry, holiday foil paper, bottle caps, etc. Put these items in a sandwich zip lock plastic bag with your child's name written on the bag.
ART SUPPLIES- As it would be far too costly for parents to go out and purchase evrerthing needed for this class (acrylic paints, brushes, crafting paper, butcher paper, hot glue, clay, frisket, gloss sealer, artist scissors, glue sticks, etc) a one time Art Fee donation of $5 per child is requested. As no child will ever be excluded from doing any art project because of financial hardship, if you are able to contribute more than your child's art fee to help over the cost of another student's art fee, it would be greatly appreciated.
WISH LIST ITEMS- These are things I could use in my classroom all the time.
1. Kirkland (Costco Brand) antibacterial wipes, which come in a box
2. Staples Brand 110 lb White Cardstock (sold only at Staples)
3. White or Brown BUTCHER PAPER with the waterproof side
4. Sharpie Brand FINE TIP OR ULTRA FINE TIP Colored or Black Markers
5. Large bottles of Elmer's Brand white glue
6. Lightweight Hair Dryers
7. Crafting supplies, such as glitter, sequins, beads, feathers, etc.
8. Sewing supplies, such as buttons, decorative trim, zippers, etc.

10. Magazines- If you or your place of work subscribes to Fashion, Design, Scenic or National Gebographics Magazines, students could use these to construct all sorts of projects. No gossip magazines please.
