ART SUPPLIES- As it would be far too costly for parents to go out and purchase evrerthing needed for this class (acrylic paints, brushes, crafting paper, butcher paper, hot glue, clay, clay carving tools, frisket, gloss sealer, artist quality scissors, artist quality glue sticks, metal wire in various sizes, etc) a one time Art Fee donation of $10 per child is requested. As no child will ever be excluded from doing any art project because of financial hardship, if you are able to contribute more than your child's art fee to help over the cost of another student's art fee, it woluld be greatly appreciated.
DESIGN CRAFT is a 20 week, one semester art class, which can be taken more than once by 7th & 8th grade students. As all of my classes are sequential and academic, meaning that each class expands on the skills learned in the previous class, this intermediate class will teach students how to expand the skills they gained in Exploratory Craft (although students may take this class without having taken Exploratory Craft).
Students in this class will learn how to take a two dimensional design and transform it into a three dimensional art piece. This class focuses on sculpting techniques with clay and paper, maskmaking techniques with paper construction and paper mache', optical illusion design, and collage techniques used to construct different three dimensional objects. As the projects for this class change from each offering of the class to the next to allow students to take this class more than once, you may want to view the Student Art Gallery to see more examples of three dimensional art.
